How do I get Flip videos into imovie on my ipad2?

I am running windows vista. I can get videos shot with my Flip onto my ipad2 for viewing (by importing as MP4 though itunes), wholesale cell phones but imovie will not recognize them. How do I get my Flip videos converted to a format imovie will accept?
